Here is a easy and clean alternative to the "mirror" light -- the cost was about $5.

I purchased a glove box light assembly from the dealer -- the same one as is in all 6s.

The installation is self explanatory -- the only tricky item is to pull the wires from the light assembly to the panel above the mirror. I just used the wire from a couple to coathangers to pull wires under the header and roof panel! The opening for the light has to be cut out -- no big deal, but be sure that there is no interference above the panel. If you look at the photos, you will see where I installed mine. Be sure to cut the leather under size, and then fold it out before cutting the hardboard.

It works just great, sufficient light, and it is controlled by the dome light -- so you can use all 3 modes, as the light is in parallel with the bulbs in the light assembly.

Note that one of the wires had to soldered to the dome light bar -- see below.

Before you draw the wires, etc. test the circuit using some alligator clips.

Good luck -- any questions let me know.

Note the brown wire directly between the bulbs -- it has to be soldered to the brass strip.
This is one of the wires going to the new light.

Wires must be connected to the RD/GN wire going to the dome light assembly and the brass bar
which is the connection right above the OFF position on the diagram.
