The 1980's replacement of the front cap wasn't welded at the frame horns. When the structure was properly tightened up, some of the clearances also got tighter. Here you can see the gap between the drivers door and the front fender, its just too close..
Similarly, the hood clearance got tight as well. Here, Todd has trimmed and welded the edge of the hood, so that the gaps are uniform.
To increase the gap, the edge of the fender next to the door was sectioned and rewelded. It is the details like this that make a lot of difference!
The patches at the lower part were added in the 1980s as well, as the donor alpine did have a small bit of rust. We flanged these and spot welded them in, but Todd has made them disappear!
